Another Show - Opens Oct 1st 2011

Just when I thought it was time to rest.....
This next show combines two years, images from the Paroo in 2010 and Hattah this year.
All on display at PAINTERS GALLERY, 1773 Pittwater rd , Mona Vale.
I have enjoyed curating 25 pieces in this compact space. But even more so I have enjoyed making new contacts with the Wilderness Society who will be coming on Saturday to give a bit of a talk about the Murray Darling River Basin. Poet Emily McIntypre will also join us and read from her latest publication. ALMOST
Great to see art , poetry and the Wilderness Society all in the one room. Oh gosh I have forgotten music. I should get onto that.

Birds are apart of this series once more, the sulfur crested cockatoos are a major feature, but watch this space I have my first commission for a black cockatoo. This will be a challenge.

Hope to see you all on Saturday 10-2pm, talks and poetry at 1pm. Tea will be served.
An art piece will be Auctioned for the Wilderness Society.

The Next Exhibition

Hattah is about to begin and it is that final week of signing and glazing the work, a relief to see it all coming together and that panic to do just a couple more. Or finish a couple more. At 35 images I should probably stop.

This series takes a closer look at colour. Just like Vermeer and Monet, colour have always fascinated and delighted me, but I have often been lazy and a little un concerned about colour choice. This time I made a choice but it wasn't just the colour it was the type of colour.
Red is not just red... it is a warm red or a cool red. Blue can be cool or warm, even orange can be cool or warm. It was a wonderful connection to make a fresh. The tone of the painting could be set by the warmth of colour chosen.

Monet also inspired the series I produced. That notion of return. Returning to the same subject again again til it is truly known, truly understood in all lights.
My time at Hattah was just that; a chance to beat the light at dawn and dusk...to hold onto the colours of that moment. To secure them in one sketch.
